They will never know

They will ne e

Our parents will never know the feeling of being ‘not good enough’.

Not good enough to make them proud.

Not good enough to make them happy.

Not good enough to to be worthy of their embrace.

They will never know how we crave for their little affection that once we felt it from other people we suddenly feel so important and valuable.

They will never know how we struggle saying ‘I love you’ for the first time because we never heard it from anyone.

They will never know how we can’t differentiate a ‘house’ from a ‘home’ for both feel like a strange place you can’t even call your own.

They never know how insecure we feel for being compared for more than a thousand times, so wherever we go, we are asking for someone else’s approval.

They will never know how many times we wanted so much to give up, but don’t want to be a burden to anyone.

They will never know how we can’t differentiate a ‘house’ from a ‘home’ for both feel like a strange place you can’t even called your own.

They will never know how we let other people hurt us, for we define ‘pain’ as ‘love’, and ‘fear‘ as ‘respect’.

They will never know how we fear failing so we would never try. Because after all, we are never good enough.

So promise me, when the time comes that you are raising your own, they will never feel the same pain we’re feeling.

Promise me, they will never understand the disappointment we feel for ourselves when we achieve less than what our parents expect.

Promise me, they will never be afraid to voice out their thoughts because their words and feelings is something valuable.

Promise me, they will never have to give up their dreams because we are the ones who insist that they could never be big.

Promise me, they will never know.

  1. Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be (possibly your roommate, neighbor, coworker, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger), * but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way. *

  2. Very efficiently written story. It will be useful to everyone who utilizes it, including yours truly :). Keep up the good work – can’r wait to read more posts.
