ETTA’S Compact Skin Whitening Powder is a Filipino made bleaching powder available in drugstores nationwide. Since I’m more of a ‘Mercury Drugstore person’ than ‘Watsons person’ I tend to be more familiar with locally-made products.
Etta’s compact skin whitening powder had been on my mind since then, so when I finally had a break on trying whitening soaps, I gave it a try. If you want to know more read on!
What does it contain?
ETTA’S compact skin whitening powder is a pre-mixed compact of skin beauty aid in a single white dry powder form. It claims to contain 3% of Active ingredient vitamin C per heaping tablespoon.
The mixing solution is just hydrogen peroxide.
Direction for Use:
The instructions written on the box is very much easy to follow. I’d typed the instructions for those who have a hard time loading the photo.
For the face:
1. Put 1 tablespoon of ETTA’S compact skin powder in a bowl.
2. Gradually mix with enough ETTA’s mixing solution.
3. Stir until a melted ice cream texture is produced.
4. Apply gently on desired area
5. Wash with plenty of water when the mixture dries up.
6. Apply moisturizing cream.
For the body, it follows the same instruction but instead of 1 tablespoon of ETTA’S powder use 4 or more which ever is enough to cover your body.
Things to Consider:
If you’re in hurry, please don’t use it, it would surely take your time. Also, skin tightening and bearable itch is expected to happen. Be mindful, make sure not to apply it on open wounds.
Etta’s Compact Skin Whitening Powder is the very first bleaching powder I tried so I decided not to use it on my face for safety measures and also, I’m still saving my face from the breakouts caused by the previous soap I tried.
Well, I could say that the packaging is pretty attractive due to its shiny red color box, it would surely catch your eyes but I think it doesn’t fit.
Now, when you open the box it contains two plastic bags of white powder.
The product is easy to prepare, however, applying it on your body is not so neat. Expect to see a lot of it settling on the floor as it dries.
It probably takes around 20-30 mins before it dries up, so hit up your favorite playlist so you won’t get bored while you wait inside your bathroom.
At first, I tested it on my arms to see if it’s really effective. After I wash, I could already see its whitening effect. Yes girls, this product is like a quick fix. The powder will settle on your skin but looks a bit natural as if you put a lighter shade of foundation on your skin.
After a day, I tried it on my whole body that’s when I realized how a hassle it is. But of course, ‘tiis-ganda lang’. I was really patient for using this and was happy with the result at the same time.
After a week of using this, my mom and my sister said that the powder is effective on me. It really did whiten my skin, however, I decided to stop using it. Why? It caused me red rashes.
At first, I thought it wasn’t the culprit so I just continue on using it. But when the rashes became severe, I decided to stop and see if the rashes will somehow heal, and it did.
So overall, I could say that it’s effective for whitening but it’s not good for my skin. So girl, if you want to try it out, take your own risk.
I bought the set at Mercury drugstore in Farmers Mall for around PhP 235.00 (If I’m not mistaken)
Rooms for improvement:
The packaging. Yes, it’s attractive but I think it looks more like a box of diet powdered milk than a whitening product. Maybe a cylindrical plastic container would be more appropriate.
Price – 10/10
Packaging – 6/10
Will I purchase it again?
No. It’s an effective product, however, it’s not fit for my skin.
